Molalla Indians Drop Second League Game

The Molalla Indians Varsity Baseball Team dropped its second straight league game of the season to Madras on Monday at its home League Opener 13-3.

The Madras White Buffalos jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead with 2 outs in the first inning on a collision play in shallow right field between Molalla Second Baseman Jeff Larsen and Right Fielder Brandon Palmer.  Molalla answered back with1 run in the first and another in the second inning to tie the game.  But that would wind up being short lived as Madras would go on to score 4 runs in the third inning as Molalla Pitcher Jacob Nix would hit 4 batters and  give up 3 hits.  From that inning on it was all downhill for the Indians.

Indians Dylan Wynn and Linden Mackenzie got 5 of the Indians 9 hits but Madras continued to score runs on what simply amounted as a bad day for the tribe.  The Indians did steal 4 bases with Dylan Wynn notching 2 of those and Damian Pingo and Kolten Jordan each stealing 1.  Madras pitcher Jared Holiday pitched a complete game and walked only 1 whiling striking out 4 Molalla hitters.

Senior Matt Roark finished the final 4 1/3 innings for Molalla and gave up only 2 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.  During those 4 1/3 innings unfortunately the Indians would commit 4 more errors while Matt Roark hit 3 more Madras hitters to help Madras to their 13-3 victory.  That was the second win in a row for Madras to start league play 2-0 while Molalla has lost it’s first 2 games to begin the league season 0-2.
