Molalla Indians BASEBALL Drop League Opener

On Friday, April 6th Molalla High Varsity Baseball Team dropped its league opener on the road to Madras by a score of 7-3. The Indians had 7 hits compared to Madras’s 4 hits, however Molalla’s pitching had an off day walking 11 batters and hitting 3.  Add that to 2 errors and Madras was given 16 extra base runners which was more than enough to give the win to Madras.

Indians highlights included a continued hot bat by Senior Braden Hibbs to drive in the first run for Molalla and 2 hits by Senior Kolten Jordan who also drove in a run.  Madras starter Cameron Rodriguez only allowed 2 walks and struck out 3 of the 6 strike outs for a good performance for Madras.

Sophomores Linden Mackenzie and Damian Pingo each added a hit, Pingos was a towering double and Mackenzie scored a run.  A big highlight of the game was Sophomore Dylan Wynn’s performance getting 1 hit scoring 1 run and playing a solid Centerfield.

Coach Dantona said “ We just couldn’t a big inning together with our bats and our pitching just wasn’t on.”  “I believe we have a really talented team, young but talented, I really think we will be in the hunt all season long continued Dantona.”

Molalla plays at home on Monday against Madras again, game time is 4:30pm.
